Team Leader

Workers who do the actual, practical tasks in a business need someone to report to, someone who will give directions, supervise, coach and provide feedback. That person is a team leader. This is perhaps the most common management role since every business with more than a few employees needs one or more team leaders. To progress to this position, it can be helpful to study for a Diploma of Business (or similar) or even go for a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Business Development Manager

Also known as Sales Development or Strategic Programs Lead, this role requires inborn sales and strategic talent. An in depth industry knowledge and a h2 personal network is beneficial, but can be learned on the job. The purpose of the role is to identify a marketing and growth strategy for the business, and actively apply the strategy to win new customers and expand the business.

This position requires several years of industry experience, and is usually held by IT technicians who have risen to this leadership and administrative role.
